Welcome back to another installment of the #WeedNews. I went ahead and titled it May of 2019, but I may end up putting another post up about it before the end of the month. There has been a lot of development in the Cannabis World, especially around the United States. And there’s a lot of ground I wanted to cover. So we will say that this is for the first half of the month of May, 2019. Although it is a couple of days early before the actual mid month, I am going to go ahead and give you all the important information for the first couple of weeks.

First, on the federal level: Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer joined forces with the New York representative Hakeem Jeffries to put forth the second decriminalization bill in 2 years. At the heart of the bill would be the rescheduling of cannabis so the drug is no longer included on the federal list of controlled substances. That will allow States a lot more freedom in crafting their own legislation around marijuana. That will also alleviate some of the worries of current cannabis providers and users that they could be subject to Federal prosecution down the line for their connection to the plant. Of course the marijuana freedom and opportunity act does not legalize cannabis. Instead it allows those decisions to happen in state capitals across the country. Basically what they’re doing is letting every state decide what they want to do when it comes to cannabis. (You can find the full story if you CLICK HERE)

In Alabama, medical marijuana bill approved by the Senate. This legislation follows a movement in the State’s recent general attitude shift towards cannabis. In April, the sheriff of Alabama’s most populous county announced it would no longer be arresting people for non-violent misdemeanors, including small-scale marijuana possessions. Alabama is joining the list of the states across the US that is taking a huge load off of their Police Departments by decriminalizing possession of small amounts of cannabis. (Full Story)

And a huge story from Denver, Colorado. Without much noise the Denver legislative body passed an initiative to decriminalize the use and possession of psilocybin mushrooms. It’s not exactly cannabis, but hallucinogenic mushrooms are okay in my book. (Full Story)

Using a Meme Maker to Caption Images

Well, I was sitting over here, getting high, thinking about Twitter followers and shit. And all of a sudden I’m thinking “Hey!”, it’d be all right if I get a little bit of a variety into my blog. Put a little bit of an image action up in that Twitter feed. So since I’m high, I figured why not put some words on the images while I’m at it as well. Shit. So here it is right here enjoy. ( I will be able to use this image later when making posts about Twitter or @SovietStoner on Twitter)

Cannabis Strain Information: Cherry Bomb

Both of my seeds came up, and are looking lovely. So, I figured I would give you some basic info on the strain. I was looking for something sweet and great tasting for some variety, and I decided that the Cherry Bomb from Bomb Seeds is the way to go. Cherry Bomb is a Indica-dominant Hybrid, developed by Bomb Seeds by crossing they’re monster yielding Big Bomb with a unique and fruity Cherry variety. Because it is an Indica dominant, the plants grow short and bushy, and stay at a low to medium height, which is just perfect for my small space. The THC content is extremely high around 25%. I am not sure what the CBD content is exactly. The yield is also high. It can be grown indoor or outdoor. Indoors it will take 8 to 10 weeks to flower. Outdoor the harvest comes in late September early October. Because of its Indica genes, the effect is couch locking and relaxing, very sedating.

Flushing my Blue Dream

Exciting exciting times. I am less than two weeks away from the target harvest date, so I started flushing my plants. Both of the Blue Dreams (pictured above), and the two White Widows behind them are getting ready to be harvested. I cut out all the nutrients, and for the last 2 weeks of the flowering time. I will only be watering them. The purpose of this flush is to wash out any excess nutrients and chemicals from the soil and the plants. Proper flushing insures that my flowers will not have any chemical or nutrient residue, and therefore will not have any weird taste. A properly flushed plant will produce the cleanest, most pure form of marijuana. When flushing your plants, especially the ones growing in soil, make sure to give them plenty of water, to have some runoff.

New strains planted: Blue God and Cherry Bomb

Okay okay folks, trying to bring a little variety to my stoner life. Just planted two brand new strains. The first one is the “Blue God” from Jordan of the Islands (Vancouver based breeder). The second one is a feminized version of the “Cherry Bomb”, from Bomb Seeds. Both are Indica dominant hybrids. I have to stick with the indicas because I am very limited on space, and I have to keep my plants short and bushy. Both strains boast a high THC content, and should be heavy yielders. I am particularly excited about this Cherry Bomb.

Operation Clones is a Go

“Blue Dream” clone is rooting in the new pot

Great news! The Clones that I took a couple of weeks ago are now routing in their new pots. They are doing great. I am starting to notice a lot of new growth at the top. I was a little worried in the beginning, that the Clones would not come up as fast, because they were cut from the plant that was in the late stages of flowering. And yes, they did take a little bit of extra time to acclimate. But they are sprouting new growth, and I am very proud. This time around, I do have a 100% success rate with the cloning procedure. The EZ-cloner was money well spent.
